Amara Grace
Jazz, Musical Theatre, Tap

Amara's passion for storytelling began with her introduction to tap and contemporary jazz at Ligon Middle School under the direction of Freddie-Lee Heath and Beth Pope. Amara came to North Carolina Dance Institute on a study scholarship and accelerated her training with the nurturing of Kirstie Spadie. During her first year of college, Amara served as an assistant teaching artist with North Carolina Arts in Action, a local affiliate of the National Dance Institute.

In addition to dance, Amara is an avid musical theatre enthusiast and performer. She studied jazz and musical theater dance from Tito Hernandez at the NC Theatre Conservatory. Amara has performed with Wake County Public Schools System and Broadway Series South productions of Aida and High School Musical. She has also served as a dance captain and ensemble member in the NC Theatre productions of High School Musical 2 and Peter Pan.

Amara is enthusiastic about her return to her dance home at NCDI. In addition to teaching at NCDI, she has taught jazz and musical theatre dance at Raleigh Little Theatre. Amara leads upbeat and joyous classes for dancers of all ages and levels. She is enthusiastic about expanding the vocabulary her students have access to with the dictionary of dance expression.
